Having a strong sense of foundation in your body provides a solid platform on which to anchor your ideas. The mind can move between memories of the past, reactions to the present, and projections into the future, but the body is only here in this moment. Building your capacity to notice the sensations of your body in the present moment builds the foundation from which your best ideas can take root and fully develop.
There are many ways to build your experience of foundation, including incorporating mindfulness during traditional exercise like swimming or running; practicing yoga, tai chi, meditation, or kickboxing; and learning simple awareness practices for whenever you need to feel more grounded.
